simple shui | color therapy

i can be captivated for hours in a paint store, pausing in contemplation over every color and its name…

put me in front of the lipstick or nail polish at any makeup counter, and my eyes intensify while my head takes flight…

and if i were a celebrity, my backstage demands would include sharpies + colored pencils.

color is my kind of religion.

i just can’t imagine a day without sumptuous color everywhere around me.

and in shui, color is an exuberant method to enhance awareness and accentuate our intentions.

so, as we move into the vibrancy of summer, consider infusing your life — whether it is your house, wardrobe, or yard —  with a wide palette of color with these associations in my mind:

black + inky dark colors enhance career + communication. they signify intelligence  + sophistication + shrewdness.

green invites new energy into a space or situation, and it is synonymous with growth + beginnings + harmony.

blue calms and soothes the soul. it harnesses relaxation + peace + serenity.

purple is associated with royalty and wealth. it also enhances intuition + spirituality.

red gets noticed and conveys confidence. it denotes fame + passion + courage.

white stimulates creativity and is often associated with honesty + grace + innocence.

pink is the songbird of love, uplifting + enticing the soul.

yellow is the color of sunshine, optimistic + focused + inspiring.

brown is grounding and stabilizing. it is diligent + patient + reliable.

this list of meanings is a skim of the surface. and while i am no style expert, i do know my color. so. over the summer, i’ll venture into each color individually and all its evocative potential so you can use them in all the right places in a totally personal shui kind of way.
