simple shui | don’t wait until spring to do this!

if you’ve been around Simple Shui for even a hot minute, you know everything is energy; everything is connected; and everything is ALWAYS changing. so, with your shui eyes wide open, take an objective inventory of your space:

is it giving you a life buzz? are your surroundings congruent with your goals? (if so, a tip of the hat to you!)[or]

does it feel monotonous and predictable? are you thinking “now what?” as the weeks go by? (ruts happen to everyone!)

[or]

are your surroundings sending mixed signals? (one day, you’re master of the universe; the next, it’s master of none?)

even though most of us resist change, there is one BIG upside i’d like to point out: its constancy means there is usually stuff (things, routines, thoughts) to be sloughed off that will improve our mojo fitness. like, a better feeling; an unexpected opportunity or windfall; or that pinch-me-this-is-a-once-in-a-lifetime experience! every time i clear clutter or shake up my way of seeing things, it guarantees a WHOA and WOW. and simplifying our surroundings is the most economical way to prioritize possibility! so, if january left you howling for something better, here are a few considerations for clearing space + furnishing new beginnings:

if you have clutter from past relationships or periods in your life that drums up negative feelings, let it go. good feelings multiply themselves; anything else divides ‘em up. so, do the math and release those barren energies.

if the clothes don’t fit or you’re hoping to fit into them again, give them away. by stealing the spotlight from those *someday* versions of yourself, you bask in the glorious potency of right now talk about turbocharging your force field!

if you’re holding onto stuff out of fear, stop squandering your personal energy and surrender those ambivalent what ifs. clearing, cleaning, and cleansing space is the prescription for physical vitality + mental conviction + emotional momentum. and more space is the first move to claiming back your time and power!

if you’re holding onto nostalgia because of guilt, bid it adieu. it’s the memory of something, not the thing itself, that we really treasure. trust yourself to remember your life, and your home will become a cathedral of LOVE.

if you’re boxing up belongings to sort eventually, that day is now. we tend to live in a “later” state of mind. so, if you can name a time and date for “later”, great! but often, we just don’t know when we’ll have the time or motivation. putting things off until “tomorrow” only corrodes our energy, so make this simple: if something isn’t a HELL, YES, it’s a NO. one decision at a time moves us past short term discomfort and into a life that feels as good as it looks!

if you are loaning precious square footage to your loved ones, ask them to store their stuff somewhere else. take back that leased energy and then hold onto the handle bars, babe!

if you are tempted to store never-been-used things, find a way to use them now. and if you can’t, explore the fear and worry behind why. when we hoard stuff for years, we kick around the idea life won’t get better. donate the pile, trusting the exact resources will be available later if the need arises. you have permission to luxuriate in the feeling + belief that everything will be all right.

whenever your attention is being tugged somewhere in your house, follow its lead because that space absolutely corresponds to something in your life you really want to change. lean into your intuition. listen to her wisdom. resist the urge to need logic first. even if you don’t understand the why, your house does + it’s alerting you to a solution. when we live with stuff we don’t LOVE, it contaminates our authenticity. which is why living with what you LOVE isn’t simply a design strategy; it is heart smart living.
