A Different Perspective…

When I was 5, I attended kindergarten in Germany. Every morning as I entered the school, all children were required to take off their shoes and put on slippers for the day. There was a "No slippers, no school" policy.

In the last couple days, I have found myself talking to others about spring cleaning and space clearing. Space clearing is a powerful ritual used in feng shui to remove stagnant chi from your home. It is a rather involved process, but the endeavor and reward are well worth the time. Over the next couple weeks, I intend to share with you my spring cleaning process as I prepare to do a space clearing in my home.

Space clearing is an effective tool to use in a home that feels "stuck." A good way to determine if your home has energy "debris" is to gauge your own feelings. How do you feel right now? What do you see when you walk around your house? Our homes are a direct reflection of everything we think, act, and feel. Energy can get funky after we've had illnesses, fights, or unpleasant experiences in our homes. And while we may get better, the energy lingers in corners, crevasses, and clutter.

Different Perspective

We also bring energy into our homes on the soles of our shoes. With all the severely negative energy out there, imagine what you are tracking in each day. Many countries around the world have no-shoe policies in their homes. Thinking back to that year of kindergarten, I have the most wonderful memories. And whether the shoes had anything to do with it, I will never absolutely know. However,  I am certain that as we piled into the school every morning, leaving our shoes behind was very instrumental in keeping us healthy, focused, and receptive throughout the day.

Think about approaching March and April with the intention of cleaning and clearing your home. And when you successfully complete both, consider a barefoot policy for the summer. Your home will radiate and generate a much healthier and happier energy if you do!
