Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep…

As the sun goes down, I am reflecting on the day. What did I do well? Where could I have tried harder or been kinder? Every night, before I fall asleep, I silently review my day. And anything I didn't enjoy or do as well as I would have preferred, I edit. I create the experience over in my mind, but this time, I imagine it precisely the way I would have liked it to happen. Sounds overly simple, I know. But this exercise powerfully transforms your subconscious. And, if you recall, your subconscious is as big as an elephant compared to your ant-sized conscious self. Think of this as the opportunity to correct all those mistakes before you get the final grade. To your subconscious, once you have changed the event mentally, that becomes your experience. It is a little hocus pocus…

And then, if I am still awake, I intend my next day. I imagine waking up HAPPY. I meditate on having things go well throughout the day, and finding joy in my tasks and obligations. Again, it sounds simple because it is, but you are prepping your subconscious for what it should focus on beforehand. I don't know if you ever have found yourself thinking about something only to then find the very thing show up over and over again… Well, this exercise is a deliberate version of exactly that…focusing on the positive by planning for it.

Good night…
