Singin' the Blues…

I thought it was just me, but it turns out, there is a collective funk in the air. If you have no idea what I am talking about, lucky you! But in the last 3 days, I have noticed my friends all have a case of the blahs — and I am right there with them. Can I just vent for a minute and say how frustrating it is to spend SO much time reading, practicing, and living the whole Law of Attraction to end up with, OUT OF NOWHERE, a huge ol' funky mood I cannot shake? I eschew negative thought because, c'mon, energy follows thought. So when I get down, I get really down. Ever heard of the domino effect?

Funny enough, this week my email box has been filled with articles about staying positive, focused, and attuned. So, by way of gently reminding myself, and hopefully to share some insight with you, here is what I recommend when the blues just don't want to go away.

Get up and get moving. If nothing else, you will feel like you accomplished something, which eventually gains momentum. Working out is a great way to use your body against itself. Whatever causes the blues can be squelched with some good oxygen intake. If hitting the gym is more than you can handle, breathe deeply throughout the day. Stop thinking and just breathe.

I like to keep The Secret on my iPod for days like these. While I think most of it is "surface" information, it is FULL of one-liners that come in handy when you are trying to shift into a higher gear. And listening to it floods your subconscious with all sorts of good-feelings. If The Secret is not your cup o' tea, pull out some music that lifts your mood. I once took a class on joy that required you sing out loud at least once a day so…go for a drive, crank the tunes, and let it rip.

Finally, let me be the first to say I am NOT the fake-it-'till-you-make-it kind. I am such a realist that when I go into my "pretend" mode, and believe me I try, I might as well be waging war with myself. My mind simply has a firm grasp on what is real and what is not. BUT, this doesn't mean I am without a grand master plan that I visualize so I can move forward. I absolutely believe that focused intention is ENORMOUSLY powerful. Figure out what will bring joy and harmony back into your day…and focus until it comes.

Above the Clouds

I am always amazed when flying that above all the storm clouds are beautiful, blue skies. Our lives, in my opinion, are no different. We simply must trust they are there so we can take off and soar, leaving the blahs far behind.
