The Butterfly Effect

So, of course, my girls are better and now I am fighting something… C'est la vie, right? Yesterday, I excused myself to bed early and hunkered down with Steering by Starlight by Martha Beck. I highly recommend this read. But what I want to share today relates to your home…of course.

Butterfly

There I was on page 181 of 232, when lo and behold, Ms. Beck began discussing life as a house. I sat up. Yes? "Whether you know it or not, you can't change your life without changing your home, and vice versa." I swear the heavens parted and angels were singing.

"Every time you make a choice about what objects you bring into your space, where you put them, or whether to remove them, you're following psychological directives that also shape every other aspect of your life."

Continue please…

"If you feel overwhelmed by tasks and people, your home will be overcrowded with objects. If you care more about your children than you do yourself, you'll take better care of their space than you do of your own. If you have a lot of secrets, the physical manifestations of those secrets will be stowed — usually in a grubby, hidden, or suffocating bundle — somewhere in your house."

Yes. Yes! YES! You see, it is so much more than feng shui or good organizational tips. Think of your home as a metaphor for your life…and then begin making the changes that will reflect, support, and guide you into who you are meant to be. One change, however small it seems to you, can have the butterfly effect…a tiny action creating larger-than-life results.
