“I didn’t know I could do that!”

the other day, I hauled myself away from work and onto the couch…and instead of scrolling my phone, I grabbed a New Yorker and attempted the crossword.

something I’ve never done. something I’ve always been intimidated by, assuming I wasn’t that kind of smart.

you guys…I finished the crossword!

and the sense of THRILL I feel is something I don’t think I could have manufactured any other way than trying something, figuring it out and realizing: oh my ganache! there’s this whole new thing I can do now.

would you believe me if I told you this is the SAME way shui works?

I was asked recently what my superpower is, and I replied the same way I always do: taking the complex and making it simple.

that’s what I do with shui, and it is why I LIVE for every moment of introducing it, teaching it and having those connective-tissue conversations where suddenly someone GETS it.

once you see all the potential in your home, it is really hard to squander or ignore it, continuing to insist you don’t have options.

the world is trying to close in on us every day, making us feel like we have no power. well… I do not comply with that perspective.

I know we all have this enormous opportunity within reach to change how we feel, and when we change how we feel, we change how we show up in this world. and showing up ready – with energy, with options, with optimism – well…

it starts to make the impossible feel totally possible.

kind of like my New Yorker crossword…something I had already decided (issue after issue) I probably couldn’t do without ever actually trying.

I feel that’s the real magic of learning shui, too.

you try moving a few things… living with this different awareness about your space, your décor and what it’s all saying. you notice changes happening, so you try a few other suggestions, and somewhere along the way, you realize: oh my ganache! there’s this whole new thing I can do now. and once you start, you won’t want to stop.

(here’s looking at you, New Yorker back issues!) xo
