Welcome, Spring!

Spring Break came and went as it usually does — very quickly. Having my hands full with two little people who are accustomed to a structured school day, my free time also took a break. Yet I managed to find and utilize pockets of time to purge, clean, and organize. If you haven't been in the mood for spring cleaning, take it one deep breath at a time. Very few of us like to spend the entire day, weekend, or week cleaning. Once you get into the space mentally, however, it can be a very therapeutic and calming experience. And the benefits are simply magnificent!

Spring is when we shed winter sweaters, strip beds of heavy comforters, and begin opening our windows to welcome in the breeze. All of this is symbolic of the idea behind spring cleaning. We are lightening the load, if you will. Parting with the old and/or extra weight of things is the perfect gesture this week as we officially welcomed spring last weekend. Take it one drawer at a time. As you are applying your make-up or digging through the utensil drawer, ask yourself what you need while you are in that moment. It makes it much easier because you are staying in the moment. Contemplate what you want your life to look like as summer approaches. What dreams, goals, and desires do you have? And then, look at your "stuff" again — does it reflect that vision? If you tackle your home in small chunks, you will be surprised at how easily the clutter clears.

When we let go of things, we are sending a powerful message that we trust what we need will be provided to us. We are welcoming the new season ripe with blossoming opportunities. If it feels frightening, here's a thought to muse upon…
