What's in Your Wealth Portfolio?

I find that when I start discussing the bagua, most people are drawn to either the wealth, career, or love guas…and rightfully so. I mean, money and love help make the world go round, right? However, it is important to distinguish what the guas really represent and encompass. And since I am in the market for a new and rather expensive computer, I think it is appropriate I address the wealth area.

Buddha

If you recall, this is the rear left area of your home or office. At first glance, what do you see? Does it speak wealth and prosperity? It is common to find direct correlations between the condition of a room and the area it represents. For instance, if something is broken in this gua, remove it immediately — especially if you feel like you are always broke. Get it? If it's broken, so are you.

In feng shui, though, wealth and prosperity are much more than the green we like to accumulate. Wealth begins today with what you already have. There's a line in a Sheryl Crow song that comes to mind. "It's not having what you want — It's wanting what you've got." Exactly. Ritualizing gratitude is the key to living abundantly.

Take inventory. First, make sure the area of your space (home, office, yard, desk) that represents wealth is clean and organized. Find one item that represents abundance to you and incorporate it here. Not sure what to use? In feng shui, wealth is represented with moving water features, wind chimes, photographs of things you'd like to buy or experience, fresh flowers, and affirmations related to prosperity. Anything red, blue, or purple works well, too. Find what resonates with you. Just because something is good feng shui doesn't guarantee its success. You must LOVE it first. Make these changes, or adjustments, with intention so every time you walk into the space, you think wealth. Second, and this is the ultimate goal, make a list of all the people and things in your life that bring you joy. Add to this list your talents and strengths. Give thanks. Every day. Revere this list as your real wealth portfolio, and as life brings you more of anything swell, add to it.

When you equate wealth with gratitude, prosperity is guaranteed!
