A Letter to Dallas

Dear D,

I came across your book a year ago but didn't order it until a few days ago. I believe in serendipity like you believe in dreams.

I happen to believe in dreams, too.

As I unwrapped your book from its packaging, I knew something magical had come into our home. I opened it, read it twice cover-to-cover (could it really be so marvelous?), and had a glorious happy cry. You see, it just so happens I waltz with my dreams…always wondering if they are too big for their britches. Your book was as if you knew this and took a minute out of your busy day to write little me a note…to fill all my doubts and frowns with hope and smiles.

Words will do that. You obviously know.

My hope is everyone will read this book, buy this book, remember their dreams, believe in themselves, and pass it on…

To our children who still crawl into laps for story time.

To our children who are beginning to understand the world beyond their own front doors.

To those leaving home…those who have been gone a while…and those trying to find their way back.

To all of us who dash our dreams because of obligations, disappointments, and our well-worn "this is just life" stories…

I think it's swell, D, you took this piece of you and shared it with all of us. And even though we don't know each other, I'll always look at this book with the bewilderment and appreciation I had yesterday…because your story transformed something BIG in little me.

And for that, I send you a million thank yous.
