here are 9 ways to improve the energy around (and here are 9 ways to improve the energy around (and within) you in under 5 minutes…

make your bed = first success of the day, or what I like to call ‘starting the day off on a high note!’

open the windows = “out with the old, in with the new!” – a good wind-wash is one of the easiest way to clear energy out there!

dust your plants’ leaves = if they breathe easier, so do you!

keep the toilet seats down = in shui, this is said to protect wealth energy. need I say more?

replace a burned-out lightbulb = keeps you from feeling burned out, and it ensures you’re not “in the dark”!

give your front door mat a good shake – this is where opportunity lands, so make it feel welcome and invited!

sprinkle some salt in your wallet = salt attracts energy, and your wallet is a home to money. or, in other words, a power couple!

get rid of something declining, broken or struggling – you don’t want to be under that kind of influence, do you? (think: anything broken and you're not planning on fixing, no longer working, or past its prime.)

name 9 positive things you can see right now – appreciation “appreciates” and that kind of chi compounding in your surroundings is a very good thing! xo
out of everything I edit, books are my Everest. I out of everything I edit, books are my Everest.

I LOVE books and I am not a minimalist when it comes to them, but intentional edits ensure the energy of our home *matches* us.

so, here’s my template for editing shelves — something I LOVE doing before the new year:

first, sit with the notion that those author voices are guests in your space. while you might LOVE some of their company, you probably don’t feel that way about all of them. with that in mind...

are there a few you can confidently remove?

how about books you just didn’t love or never finished? add those to your pile.

before moving on, white glove your collection and if any are dusty, that’s a good sign you’re not MFEO! add them to your recycle +/or donate your pile.

next, consider voices, wisdom, and experiences you want to emulate in your own life.

I LOVE voices who inspire creativity and suggest ways to live outside my comfort zone, so borrow this approach and use your own filter to decide what stays/goes. release any lackluster voices, and let your shelves strut that lightness of being.

finally, this last round takes the longest because it is both an honest editorial and re-acquaintance process. I LOVE being surrounded by good stories, but when they lose their resonance, a dusty shelf of forgotten tales muffles our ability to discern and delight in our own wisdom.

so, who have you outgrown?

what no longer aligns with your journey today (example: parenting books and your kids have left the nest!)?

this step practically requires you hold every book and flip through its pages before deciding.

start with the easy purges.

edit the shelves yearly (and don’t forget to give them a good dusting, too!). xo
what I hear most of the time from most people is t what I hear most of the time from most people is this: they get shui-stuck trying to do it “right.”

so, I want you to hear me:

that’s fear, not Feng Shui.

I promise you – no matter what you’ve heard – Feng Shui isn’t a “do this / fix that / change something now or bad luck is on its way to haunt you.”

this wisdom is an invitation; a collaboration; a partnership; and all of that is an evolving conversation.

real Feng Shui (and this applies to any approach and school) knows small shifts are generally what usher in BIG support.

so, release the pressure you’ve put on yourself because this isn’t a practice with perfection at its core.

Feng Shui optimizes what we’re working on in our lives, so while it activates possibilities, it doesn’t replace the work we need to do.

it’s heavy on the cooperation, light on the co-opting.

and if you want a couple guardrails, here are 3 ways to know you’re participating with Feng Shui instead of performing it:

ONE: your rituals feel supportive, not stressful.

TWO: you focus more on intention than perfection.

THREE: your home feels like a co-creator or collaborator, not a critic. xo
Roses vibrate higher than any other plant or flowe Roses vibrate higher than any other plant or flower at around 320 megahertz – making them a mighty tonic when we want to give or receive more LOVE.

You will find there are layers of roses in many of our favorite rituals – whether that is in our bath bubbles (from @eye.love.love), The Lovers Tea (@clubmagichour), or @crystaltheoracle’s Reciprocity oil.

Different deliveries, same intention because LOVING YOURSELF IS THE RITUAL.

So, how are you going to add yourself to the TO DO list this weekend?

(Come see us because we have plenty of ways to help!) 🌹💗🌹
your home is a living story of who you are and who your home is a living story of who you are and who you’re becoming.

and when it comes to ‘reading’ its story through the lens of Feng Shui, we have so many vantage points.

for instance, instead of limiting yourself to the bagua reading of your home, consider these interpretations and see what ideas come to life for you:

no. 1: the front of your home is like your public-facing self – that résumé version of you. it *says* what you’ve already done and what the world sees.

no. 2: the inside of your home is like your current chapter. it suggests what you’re navigating, creating, healing, solving, +/or building right now.

no. 3: the back of your home is your private incubation zone. this is a space to nurture new ideas, cultivate creativity, and build what’s coming next – hello, my green thumbs and gardeners!

by the way…

this is reason 963 behind why I tell people not to get rigid or overly precious about the Feng Shui map. the bagua is a guide, but it is not meant to be a cage.

also, this is WHY…

the more you understand how each part of your home supports a different part of your life, the more intuitive and personal your approach to shui becomes (and the less you will obsess over the things you perceive as ‘wrong’).
