At First Sight
I received several emails yesterday asking if that was my front door posted yesterday…and, indeed, it is! And because there is always a method behind my madness, I am going to share a few feng shui tips I used in its composition.
(1) The front door is where chi {all that good juju} enters a home. The goal is to make the front entrance as inviting as possible. Fresh flowers, metal wind chimes {the metal's tone resonates nicely}, bright lights, and a new doormat are all simple but effective ways to boost your front door appeal.
For my door, I had twinkling lights wrapped around the pumpkin topiaries to brighten the space. I purchased 2 pots of mums {relatively inexpensive} to add some fresh energy to the space. Easy enough, right?
(2) Red is an EXCELLENT color to use at the front door. Why? Red demands attention…and if we are trying to attract opportunities and abundance, red is precisely the g0-to-girl here. This is why I selected red pomegranates for the wreath and purple + red-ish mums for the porch…the colors beckon all good energies to my front door…and into my home.
(3) Pumpkins are regarded in feng shui as protectors against negative energies…so 'tis the season to be festive. Throw a few by the front door. Should any go bad, as with anything that decays, replace immediately. And while we are on the subject of fruit, my friends, apples are a sign of peace. Consider incorporating a few red ones into a wreath OR fill a bowl with them and place it in the kitchen.
(4) And, since this is feng shui we are discussing, NO clutter. There is a fine line between getting it right and overdoing it. Make sure you can easily walk into your front door. If the door is blocked, chi will be, too. Replace anything burned out {lights}, dead {leaves or plants}, and broken {doorknobs, doorbells, etc.}.
And, now, let's see the entry way. Please do come in…
Think of your front entry way as the book cover…it is the first impression guests have of your home when they enter. So, in my mind, it is kind of a big deal. Not sure where to start? I think I can help. Come back tomorrow because I am going to share how mine came together!
