I did not learn shui in a weekend or month or year…

I learned it by prioritizing a practice and staying persistent and consistent – something I still do!

it’s also why I know what ‘gets in our way’ when we’re learning shui, so here’s what’s not ‘practicing’ shui:

no. 1: doing too much too soon

shui triggers change, and too much change suddenly or simultaneously can quickly morph into chaos. chaos distracts and interrupts the opportunities and invitations that you do want, so slow your roll!

no. 2: going for quick wins only

a quick win is nice, but it is also a gamble. sometimes a quick change works; more often, though, you don’t have the structure in place to support your ‘quick’ change, so the ‘return’ on your effort feels short-winded.

no. 3: reaching for shui only when you feel desperate

your chi is always going to be an ingredient in any adjustment you make – and desperate energy sedates shui’s superpowers. this is EXACTLY why developing a practice helps, so you have a foundation in place when things feel off-kilter.

no. 4: saying NO to the assignment when it shows up

shui triggers change, but it often looks differently than we’d like. so, if the circumstances triggered are an opportunity to grow, push up your sleeves!

no. 5: working off Instagram posts only

context is everything in Feng Shui, and there’s so much more to it than meets the scrolling eye. want to affect change that will get your attention? get into a relationship with shui, and you will learn to understand it in a profound, change-your-life way.

no. 6: ignoring your own chi

in the words of Lillian Too, “you yourself create the greatest energy. I can come to your house and do all the Feng Shui, but if you allow yourself to be very negative, then you create that kind of energy.”

I love to clean out my wallet and edit accordingly. less debt? time to remove the credit cards. finances in disarray or dipping? I clear out receipts. want to feel like I am in a good financial flow? I re-organize my wallet.

so, here are my 5 favorite tips for yours…

TIP ONE: purge the receipts and grocery lists. if yours nests a random collection of paper junk (coupons, receipts, lists, etc.), clear that clutter. these hold the energy of spending money.

TIP TWO: streamline your credit cards, especially if they cause financial strain. if you’re maxed out, remove those cards from your wallet.

TIP THREE: organize the cash in your wallet so those dollah dollah bills face the same direction.

TIP FOUR: place a stick of cinnamon or a pinch of salt in your wallet with the intention of earning and accepting money easily.

TIP FIVE: make this wallet shui a 5-minute weekly ritual with the intention to begin each week in order. when you show respect for your money and its home, you signal the ability to handle and receive more. xo

when I was new to shui – and learning from books

when I was new to shui – and learning from books mostly, I was on the bagua-specific diet.

I started, though, to feel closed in. there were only so many ways (I knew) I could work with the map, so I started looking for ‘more.’

I leapt into the 5 elements and committed to learning them.

eventually, I discovered chi challenges and noticed just how many homes were afflicted with these issues.

I also picked up remedies and rituals only shared in small circles of expertise…and delighted adding them to my ‘kit’!

the thing is, though, I was paying at every stop to start again.

I wasn’t landing in a comprehensive course with stories, client examples, and workaround suggestions all in one place – and not all the courses I paid to be in allowed access to the expert(s).

so, after a decade and a half, I cobbled together everything I could – including something from every teacher and room I’d been in – and created this course.
