tip 1: TLC your front door

this is where chi enters, which is why it is called the ‘mouth of chi’. think of it as the entry point for everything in your life. love, money, energy — it all starts here.

tip 2: go for those first feels – as in, maximize that first impression inside

how do you feel when you walk in your front door?

that very first emotion becomes the backdrop for everything else.

so, if the energy feels chaotic or you feel uninspired, know that ripple runs deep. add light, bring in color, indulge in something fresh and living – any one of these will give the space the boost it needs and YOU deserve!

tip 3: prioritize YOU in the bedroom

what’s your bedroom saying about you?

if it says ‘catch-all’ instead of sanctuary…

if it’s not a raving fan, celebrating YOU (and your partner)…

it’s time to move yourself back to the top of your to-do list.

prioritizing this space equals prioritizing your vitality.

don’t let clutter — or chaos — hop in bed with you!

tip 4: stoke your kitchen chi

is your kitchen giving healthy energy? remember, health is wealth. so, place some produce in a bowl / place on the table, wipe down (or even clear some space on) those counters, turn the stove burners on at least once this week…

find ways to stoke the kitchen!

tip 5: give LOVE a chance – with a prime spot in the house!

where’s the one thing in your house you LOVE the most?

when we anchor joy, we feel fulfilled – so, think about whatever you want more of.

and then, if something’s blocking it, competing with it, muting it, MOVE IT where it’s clearly the reigning diva.

the universe will take the note.

doors have a variety of implications in shui. the front door is where good energy and luck enter our lives, and the back door is a conduit for indirect opportunities. so, a couple suggestions for cleaning and clearing yours:

no. 1: sweep – think of this as your GO TO *out with the old, in with the new* ritual.

not only are you sweeping away dirt and debris, you are symbolically releasing the past and simultaneously preparing room to receive *refreshments.*

sweeping is also a simple gesture in self-hospitality, so it’s a powerful way to lift our own energy, which creates a magnetic pull of abundance and possibilities into our lives.

no. 2: clear up any clutter around the door.

this will help mitigate pesky obstacles you feel are in your way, keeping you from “getting where you want.”

no. 3: freshen up!

a great way to call ‘minty fresh’ opportunities your way is to cleanse the door with a peppermint spritz or essential oil (on a damp cloth). you can also whip up a made-from-scratch mixture yourself by steeping some peppermint tea, and using that concoction to wipe down the front of your door with it. xo

your front door is more than just an entrance. it’s your home’s first impression and your invitation to *more* (energy, opportunities, luck), so think of it like an energetic handshake.

give it a little TLC because if it feels dull, cluttered, or forgotten… life sometimes starts to feel the same.

here are 5 of my favorite ways to make your door do its job — call in opportunities, anchor your energy, and welcome what’s meant for you:

no. 1: turn on the light. light is immediately interpreted as safety, survival, and warmth – drawing us (and new energy) toward it.

no. 2: add something fresh. color catches the eye — and where the eye goes, energy follows. paint the door, hang a wreath (@twoinspireyou), or add a colorful mat!

no. 3: hang windchimes (and if you can’t, a bell on the inside handle works, too!). the front door calls opportunities our way, so when we add bells into the mix, they send your energy (and intentions) OUT into the world with every jingle!

no. 4: give the front door good visibility. trim back overgrowth and keep the path to you swept so chi feels invited!

no. 5: refresh the doormat because this threshold sets the tone of “coming attractions.” which means… if it’s seen *better days*, replace it. likewise, if it feels too small for the door, replace it with something a little bigger so that bigger opportunities land in your life.

remember, small shifts = big signals in shui, so save this now...

years ago, I found myself on a podcast with a visi

years ago, I found myself on a podcast with a visionary designer who posed a seemingly simple question: “do people tend to choose design over Feng Shui?”

my answer: yes.

she asked, “why?”

for starters, most people don’t even understand really what Feng Shui is. so, if and when these two worlds converge, Feng Shui assumes the role of the quieter partner.

“why do you think that is?”

shui triggers the transformative change that doesn’t instantly dazzle the eye. there’s rarely an immediate “WOW” factor to showcase. so, in many renovation dialogues (we’ll call them), Feng Shui is deferred, relegated to the back burner as design considerations take center stage.

yet, in my experience, I’ve learned that client objectives and Feng Shui challenges are not mutually exclusive. more often than not, the subtle imbalances of Feng Shui go unnoticed—until they manifest as an undercurrent of energy that holds back the full potential of you in your environment.

so, here are the three non-negotiables I shared in this conversation and stand by today still:

TIP ONE: claim command – in the office and bedroom.

if your back faces the door or you're not in a commanding position, your nervous system is quietly on alert 24/7 – which leads to exhaustion, procrastination, and self-doubt. and when we don’t know this, we think something is wrong with us when it’s actually our layout.

TIP TWO: add color.

monochrome minimalism can absolutely mute your energy. remember, color is a vibration, which is movement, which generates momentum. and joy, my friends, gives you energy!

TIP THREE: give every room a role that works for YOU.

an unused room isn’t neutral—it’s draining.

those overlooked or neglected spaces in your house not only stall your momentum, they disrupt the home’s overall flow. so, whether it’s a dining room, guest room, or catch-all corner—define it for what YOU need.

by the way, these aren’t just aesthetic tweaks – they are strategic, energetic moves that recalibrate how you show up in your work—and in your life.
