simple shui | how plants help you make money

when i was a shui newbie, i obsessed over the feng shui map and money. if our house has a wealth corner and i change that area, more money will fall into our lives? what am i waiting for? i ran countless circles around the kitchen (our wealth area), employing every enhancement i thought would improve cash flow. a few worked like a charm, but i had this nagging feeling i wasn’t tapping fully into shui.

whether i read a book or joined a course about shui, no one skipped over the 5 elements. no one, it seemed, but me. fast forward more than a decade and several certifications later, i now know the elements – along with chi enhancers, yin/yang, and space flow – are equally influential as the shui map. once i began working differently to support our WEALTH area, the financial results astonished me! that’s when i discovered how plants help you make money.

the element most at home in the WEALTH area is WOOD.

in any WEALTH area of your space (a room, the house, or your property), the WOOD element favors flourishing wealth. and the term ‘wealth’ is being used generously here. it includes all things related to money. it also encompasses our support network, well-being and health, access to opportunities, and life satisfaction.

why plants and money? think of a tree.

if it is beautiful and healthy, chances are the roots are, too. trees are symbolic of what we see and don’t see – and this is why WOOD relates to wealth. it represents a calm security that the good life will keep growing, if properly tended and nurtured.

here are 4 ways to encourage money flow with a few plants:

1. want to call more money into your life? any plants with round leaves – like African violets – are symbolic of coins. any plant with similar leaves are a common feng shui favorite when it comes to house greenery! i like to keep a few on the kitchen table. no matter where your kitchen falls, this room holds wealth energy, too, making a little plant love here a really good idea!
2. need to network? group plants together as this shui power move triggers those opportunities. if you’re wondering how many plants to gather, try 4 – the number associated with the WEALTH area. cha-ching! i was working with a client last month. he mentioned whenever he puts new plants outside, it ‘always’ brings in new business. it is so effective, his staff will often ask – when there is a sudden surge of interest and activity – “what did you plant recently?”
3. ladies, rosemary plants are associated with female financial independence, so get your herb on! inside or out, this plant is all about #bosslady energy!
4. setting a new goal? nurture a plant, and it resonates with tending our goals and ambitions. wood represents reaching up and out toward new heights. so, if you’re looking to anchor your intentions and watch them grow, buy a plant today!

already have a curated greenhouse around you?

incorporate imagery of gentle moving water near the plants, as this element will feed the wood energy even more! if your wealth section is missing or has a back door located in its range (which translates into money sometimes escaping!), place a plant near the missing space. if that isn’t possible, hang a wind chime or crystal near the missing area. any of these options will harness and hold onto your wealth energy and keep it in within arms’ reach! xo
