hello, May!

anyone else feeling a little “how is it already May?” bewilderment? I know I am – and maybe that’s also because this is the month often associated with growth, renewal and transformation. so, in the spirit of that, May’s list is blossoming with ideas to welcome new possibilities and opportunities your way!

TIP ONE: take up more space – with a signature scent

this was inspired by Andy Warhol:

“Another way to take up more space is with perfume. I switch perfumes all the time. If I’ve been wearing one perfume for three months, I force myself to give it up, even if I still feel like wearing it, so whenever I smell it again it will always remind me of those three months. I never go back to wearing it again; it becomes part of my permanent smell collection.”

(I just switched up from this to this – I’ll let you know how it goes!)

TIP TWO: turn your fireplace into its own vignette

for those of us in the Northern Hemi, we’re moving past the “stoking the fireplace” weather. however, for the LOVE of fire and its ability to suggest transformation, keep that fireplace cozy by adding a few candles around it – and you have its persuasive ambience at the ready all spring and summer long!

TIP THREE: add a splash of something unexpected to your home

I was just talking with a client who is feeling stuck. my suggestion to her – “catch your own attention when you come home.” since she enters through the front door and into an entry hall every day, I suggested finding a wall mural to dress this small space (and her!) with a BIG new feel.

if this appeals to you, too, go for something that “lifts” the space (if you feel like you’ve been playing too small); and if you need to lighten up, go for something that exudes lighter hues!

personally, I am OBSESSED with this one right now!

TIP FOUR: dust the light fixtures (and ceiling fans)

want to find yourself in luminous company? care to feel illuminated or enlightened? trying to keep negative energy from building up around you?

don’t let dust dim your wattage.

TIP FIVE: give your front door a mini makeover

this is where all energy (opportunities, possibilities and luck) enters your home — that’s why its nickname is the “mouth of chi.”

so…

if you want the energy in your life to get an upgrade, this will almost always be your best starting point of influence for what “enters” your life.

I will be giving mine a quick cleanse this weekend with a little peppermint wash – how’s that for suggesting minty fresh opportunities?

for my Southern Hemi friends, here are a few seasonally aligned tips for you!
