inspired by | a new year
here we are.
barely inside twenty-fourteen.
perhaps it’s the wintry silence around me, but i’ve been musing on how to step into this year’s inexhaustible flow.
i suggested the word savor on my last post.
and to it, i am adding simple. significant. spark. soulful.
i think donald draper said, “keep it simple, but make it significant.” people, this totally shifted my perspective on everything i hope to do this year. especially around here at simple shui. one of my 2014 goals is to use social media in a leaner way. since this site’s inception, my hope was to get 2-3 blog posts up weekly. while simultaneously maintaining a presence everywhere in between. sometimes, i sail. other times, i sink. and the cycle is maddening. problem is i’ve been holding myself to other people’s abilities + talents instead of relishing in my own.
at my very core, i am economical with words and time. i like to keep space around me because that is how my best ideas flourish.
so. i am changing things up. this year, i’ll blog less {simple} and offer better content when i do {significant}. and in the gaps, i’ll tweet shui tips + post more shui pics on instagram. maybe even a how-to video here and there of me elbow deep in shui. i want inspiration {spark} to be my muse instead of rigorous obligation. and when i put myself out there, it has to feel 100% me. 100% of the time {soulful}.
this is the first time i’ve ever started a new year with a mission statement, but when i think of standing inside these words, i can already feel myself savoring the days + months ahead.
no matter how you approach a new beginning, i hope you choose a few words to be your muse for this year. because i really have a feeling 2014 is ready to burst forth with extravagant abundance for those who have clarity around their biggest + best dreams yet.
happy new year!
