mind your metaphors!
if we don’t LOVE our surroundings, our energy loses its conviction. and even with the best shui fixes, lackluster energy siphons fuel from the life we want to be living. why? LOVE delivers a white hot frequency – an undeniable charge. since shui interprets everything metaphorically, what we LOVE is the surest catalyst for transformation.
does this mean our homes need to be chaos-free and Insta worthy?
no. *perfect* homes are staged, and creative chaos is just as necessary for sparking energy as cleaning up.
and that’s where playing with metaphors becomes serious fun.
Barry Gordon, a Feng Shui practitioner and physicist, explains shui as “the intelligent use of intention through environmental metaphor.”
LOVE is imperative, and metaphor is its enthusiastic life partner.
metaphors persuade our focus to gaze upon what we desire while subtly diminishing patterns of negative thinking. all the more reason to make these metaphors work for us, right?
in fact, a former student of mine recently said, “i still go back to your workbooks. your MIND THE METAPHORS exercise totally blew my mind!”
curious to see what it tells you?
find a favorite thing in your home. maybe even your favorite place to sit. describe it in detail, using your 5 senses. dive into the colors, textures, functionality, and purpose. why do you adore it? how does it make YOU feel every time you see it?
now, find something you don’t like. how would you describe it? what adjectives come to mind? what is an overarching characteristic you don’t like? how does it make YOU feel every time you see it?
ready for the BIG reveal?
replace both objects +/or spaces you selected with the words I AM.
whoa and wow, right?
our environment is that revealing. ideally, we want to look around at any given moment and say “this house is SO me/us.”
the best news? there is always an invitation to hit the refresh button in the spaces we live and work, so use this exercise whenever you feel the call to plant new intentions and rally cosmic support. xo
