Q & A: i don’t have any clutter, so why are we still struggling?
in my last post, i talked about clutter. i shared that where clutter lives in your house tells me HOW it’s impacting your life. shortly after it went live, a reader reached out and asked me this:
“i’m a little confused. i don’t have any clutter in my house. but why does my husband still have up-hills in his career? short term projects keep ending and he’s back in the job market again. what are we missing?”
i get Qs like this OFTEN, and the truth is: it is impossible for me to answer accurately without ALL the information i gather in a consult.
however, i can confidently say this: clutter is always only one factor in a Feng Shui conversation.
for me to make any recommendations, there are multiple factors to consider independently first. and then, those factors have to be considered alongside a client’s objectives. it is a process that requires an acquired finesse – and that’s why the Qs that land in my messages and inbox aren’t something i can off-handedly answer.
so, if a consult is not for you, here’s a glimpse of what i am observing BEFORE i utter a single ritual, remedy, or recommendation:
- the chi in your surroundings and around your house. by the way, this is a WIDE spectrum. for example, it takes in the arrangement of furniture >> the quality of personal relationships within the home >> what is happening in/on your property and around your neighborhood >> and so much more.
- the environmental metaphors around you — are they supporting or derailing you?
- the interplay of yin/yang in each room as well as your own personal balance of yin/yang.
- the 5 Chinese Elements – is the gang all there and playing well together? and are there any elements we can emphasize or curb to help resolve or support your objectives?
- an understanding of predecessor chi — in a home as well as those things you bring home.
- the power positions and the 3 power spots.
- the bagua – is every space being loved? are there missing spots that need to be remedied?
- the personalities of those living in the home — are they present in each room, the decor, and within their own personal spaces?
- and a conversation with the client, of course, because ultimately WE are the strongest influence of CHI in our home. xo
