i’m back in bikram yoga.

and i wish i could keep a notebook + pen with me during class because the nuggets of wisdom that gush from the instructor’s guidance are contagious.

today as i tried capturing my calm mid-sweat, i heard “if your mind is cluttered, you have no room for the things you want to learn here.”

and that beam of light started traveling all over my mind because the essence holds true in our homes.

if a space is cluttered, we have no room to receive the things we desire — better health, wealth, or happiness.

{remember, clutter isn’t just that pile of things without its own space. clutter is anything that elicits indifference from us.}

most of us have ideas + dreams we would LOVE to blossom in our lives.

so, the question is how are you creating space to receive those desires?

after 90-minutes of a heart pounding, drip drenching class, i’d curated a few suggestions that might help you along the way.

1. honor daily rituals.

rituals are beautiful. they give our days discipline and routine. and rituals around a home allow us to observe what our things are “saying” to us.

2. keep something beautiful in every room.

beauty elevates a space. the eye will prowl for the smallest trinket of sparkle and swoon when it finds some.

3. quality over quantity.

simply put, this is the gold mine secret to less clutter. quality requires patience. when we acquire new things on a simmer, we tend to be happier with their presence in our homes.

4. the closer we are to something, the stronger its influence.

buy to the best of your ability. and if you are going to splurge on something, give consideration to its daily proximity to you. {hint: bedding and linens are worth the indulgent expense.}

5. celebrate life throughout your house with living things.

fresh flowers, green plants, a family pet… all create rising energy in a home. and if well cared for, their presence will shift your environment, allowing you to welcome even the most beloved of your dreams.
