simple shui | a client story

what happens when you are trying to sell your house that has been on the market 4 months and counting?

you call me.

or that’s what my girlfriend + shui client did.

ali bought a cute bungalow shortly after grad school. a couple years later, she was married and living in another state. for a few years, she rented out her beloved first home but had decided it was time to sell the space.

since ali was out of state, her realtor was responsible for showcasing her house. and in a market that had been doing well, the home was getting plenty of traffic. it just wasn’t attracting any serious offers.

when i asked ali what her objectives were, she was very clear. “i want to sell the house immediately.”

since the home had been a rental, ali was unsure how the space was being shown — had it been cleaned well and was it staged to sell? meanwhile, her realtor was concerned that potential buyers consistently commented on the home’s shared driveway as a turnoff.

ali decided to make a trip there to ensure things were in order, and so i sent her with a shui TO DO list that would get her home into the hands of someone who would LOVE it.

i really believe in the power of my clients which is why i encourage them to do as much work in their homes themselves when possible. it is the merging of sincere intention + focused effort that gives shui its wings.

before ali began anything, she gave her home a good cleaning. this is one of the single most important things YOU can do  — when you clean, you clear out old energetic patterns. this changes a house’s vibe so potential buyers “feel at home” as they see the space.

(1) since all opportunity {read: offers} enters through the front door, i encouraged ali to sweep her porch clean. she also wiped down the front door + bought a new door mat + created an inviting entryway, all while envisioning the home being sold and a new family moving into it.

(2) red is a confident + powerhouse shui color and demands the eye’s attention. i recommended she place red flowers outside the door to attract energy toward her home.

(3) i also suggested she hang a metal wind chime with hollow rods out on the porch. a moving wind chime lets you know that invisible and wildly good energy is there for you. the metal is symbolic of coins {read: money, money, MONEY} while the hollow rods capture all that auspicious energy for you. and a singing wind chimes draws attention to its space, which “invites” prospective buyers into a home.

{4} as for the shared driveway issue, we used a specific shui mirror cure. i recommended nestling a few small mirrors in the bushes to reflect the driveway. mirrors “bounce back” any negative energy that feels confrontational — in this case, the shared driveway that was being viewed as “problematic.” using mirrors in this way creates the feel of established boundaries, making a shared space feel less invasive.

{5} inside the house, i suggested staging the rooms according to our five senses. so, she placed a bowl of delicious red fruit in the kitchen {the area of a home synonymous with wealth}. music was set to play as buyers walked through, and a fragrant candle was lit before showings. and for good measure, she threw a few textured blankets + pillows on the furnishings. when we appeal to the senses, we nourish + relax the nervous system. and that state of mind makes us feel happy.

wondering what happened?

6 days after she did some shui, the house received a serious offer. one she accepted. and just like that, the SOLD sign went up.

so. if you are trying to sell your home, give it an elbow deep clean with the intention of your own SOLD sign going up. and should an idea above resonate with you, use it. a little shui goes a long way. every time. and if you have more Q’s, send them my way!
