simple shui | a client story
shui is deep wisdom. and it sits fertile in our bones.
i see it with my clients daily + hear it in conversations all around me.
which is why when we’re ready for shui, it is usually accompanied by an organic shift within.
sometimes, that shift is unexpected. when we are left with our familiar coping tools in an impossibly unfamiliar situation.
for almost two years, i’ve enjoyed the enormous privilege of working with a client + good friend whose life was interrupted by a violent upheaval. in one awful moment, she was running for her life while her home was ablaze and a beloved pet was killed.
it could’ve become her story and consumed her happiness + well-being whole.
instead, a warrior spirit rallied to life.
and an empowering love for her house prompted the question: could shui help rebuild + reclaim her home?
we had a long talk. and at a cellular level, i sensed her LOVE for the devastated space was bigger than this awful, isolated moment. she would transcend it because her attention was on LOVE, not the suffering.
so, we built her home from the foundation up with shui as our graceful sherpa.
shui is always spiritual work because we are at interplay with unseen forces + sacred energy. and in this situation, it was the blueprint of our focus + efforts.
before she could begin the building process, it was imperative to re-establish peace between the foundation of her home + the earth. while this might sound wildly woo, everything is connected. so, it was necessary to acknowledge that a harmonious bond had been tragically interrupted. we swept the foundation, getting rid of lingering energetic residue. and at all four points around her property, we buried crystals to connect her highest vibrations with heaven and root grounding, guarding light into the earth for her + her home. {this. was. powerful.}
i invited her to set intentions. immediately, these included protection for her space – that all those who came to her home would bring LOVE + JOY; sanctuary for her dog – she spread rose petals on the foundation to honor her death; and requests for the building process – that if anything wanted to be a challenge, resolutions would come forward without her having to hustle them.
i encouraged her to fully embrace the role of cheerleader for her home. if others spoke about her space negatively, she would quickly redirect the conversation or leave. when our space has been harmed in any way, we owe it our bulldog determination to protect it, if possible.
when we met next, we discussed her plans for the new space so she could fully embrace this opportunity. her previous home was lacking its wealth corner, and i suggested she extend this {closet} space out more fully so the house was better balanced.
once the walls were up, i suggested small changes that would feed her sanctuary. each with its own weighty benefit, a few considerations were {1} a door on the master bathroom toilet – when we see a toilet from bed, it has a powerfully draining + depressing effect on our moods; {2} a tall headboard – this represents solid support + security in our lives; {3} additional exterior lights + security features – when we make efforts to establish safety + comfort before design, our subconscious relishes the attention; and {4} water features {which she did brilliantly with glossy artwork placed beautifully throughout the house} – water soothes anxiety + allows us to deal with deeper emotions so transformation can take place. every single design choice, though, had to come from LOVE. she was so aware that every step was an abundant opportunity to layer grace in her home. and that LOVE mattered more than anything else.
the process was not without its hurdles or challenges, but shui is not meant to mistake-proof anything. rather, it seeks to improve or mitigate a situation. when the accused violated his parole, everyone worried. when he was found squatting in an empty house just around her block a few days later, his motives didn’t escape the collective consciousness. however, cameras installed outside her house showed he never came near her property. a beautiful affirmation that all the unseen energy around us {often left untapped + wasted} is willing to do its part if we simply ask.
{and, now, feast your eyes.}
we celebrated katie’s journey the other night. friends + family gathered and deposited laughter + love in every room of her house. it was a full circle moment, witnessing the profound changes not only in a space that had been brutalized but also the radical spirit + soulfulness of my client. no matter the reason why, there is always a door open for you to begin this reverently creative conversation between shui + your house.
