simple shui | thanksgiving

thanksgiving is my kind of holiday. i love everything about it. however, it requires some hustle so here are a few simple shui suggestions for kicking off the festivities right. . .

the dining room is associated with wealth so if you have one, USE IT. and instead of sitting down for one fabulous feast, enjoy your morning coffee in there. sneak that late night snack to its table. make the leftovers just as memorable a meal. linger longer because you can. bottom line: find ways to adore that room.

hopefully, you celebrate with your pretty stuff year round, but if you keep it stocked away, it’s time to say CHEERS with the crystal + the silver + the delicate plates. if these things are precious to you, they symbolize wealth so ’tis the season to show it all some love.

inviting others into your home for food + nourishment is a delightful symbol of wealth. the thought is if you have the money to feed many mouths, you are already wealthy. so, hang a mirror in the dining room and gather your gang. and let that mirror double the love and your wealth.

round tables are preferred in shui, but no need to fret if you’re square. {i am a rectangle.} simply use a tablecloth to soften the table edges. and don’t place anyone where a corner edge points. even if you have a round table, use a tablecloth. it will absorb any pesky vibes that might pop up unexpectedly.

decorate fresh with flowers + fruits + veggies. yellow mums are a dandy way to feel golden and well-received. they also stimulate peace + love + gratitude. if you are a guest at someone’s table, a fresh yellow mum is a gracious gift to give. as for creating a cornucopia centerpiece, what’s not to love about apples + acorns + gourds + pine cones? be inspired by fall’s harvest and incorporate what you love. it all represents good health + a long life.

if family squabbles are common, use natural colors (various shades of brown + yellow) as these hues keep peeps grounded. minimize shiny and sharp elements at the table so there is no invitation for sharp/cutting conversation. and light small candles to soften the light, curating the feel of a glowing home.

and, finally, LOVE LOVE LOVE what you got. give thanks, shower the day with words of gratitude, and dwell in contentment.
