simple shui | think green
few things excite me like transforming a room with a delicious paint color. if it weren’t for the taping and tarp involved, i’d be losing square footage from all the painting i would do on a whim. here’s the thing: color influences — in a very powerful way — our energy and the atmosphere. it feeds our moods and impulses. it can harmonize our surroundings and enhance well-being. color is an indisputable power player in our behavior and reactions.
color me happy, i have so many colors in our house. but a clear darling around here is green. the lovelies’ playroom is splashed in a vibrant + playful green while our office walls are a more muted + sophisticated green. a few bathrooms have been inked in green, too. and in every room, you’ll find a pop of green somewhere.
so, what does green represent?
in shui, green is associated with new beginnings and growth. it is said to stimulate creativity. it invokes a calming and refreshing vibe, and green has been known to foster good health, soothe nervous systems, and lower blood pressure. and {my personal favorite}, green strengthens will power.
for me, green inspires hope which is why i like it everywhere.
now unless you LOVE green, there is no need to shuffle down to the paint store. rather, find creative ways to poise it around your house with the intention and knowledge of what green offers.
here are a couple easy ways to think green today:
keep fresh, full, healthy plants with shiny green leaves outside and inside your home
place a bowl of dark green avocados or bright green apples on the dining table
use green-hued soap in the bathroom or kitchen
hang paintings or photos with green landscapes
have green servings pieces or linens in the kitchen
buy a front door mat with some green designs
store green file folders in the office
stock greens to eat in the fridge
as your creative juices get loose, you’ll find green speaking to you in a totally personal way. and if you have a favorite use of green in your house now, will you share it here to inspire us all?
