simple shui tip: edit first; organize second

clutter usually appears to just be “ordinary” everyday stuff. start talking about it, though, and what you’ll hear is procrastination, overwhelm, guilt, obligation, and an assortment of “what ifs” speculation and “just in case” excuses.

however, it all shares one common thread: a fear life won’t get better. (we fill to feel.)

go deeper, and that fear insists we don’t deserve better. and by better, I don’t mean nicer things. I’m suggesting resources money can’t buy – personal energy, time, space – which all have their own way of leading to healthy discernment, creative expression, improved relationships, and feeling better overall.

this is why clutter in a home is often incongruent with our authentic desires. we want change and believe we’re ready for it, but our things might suggest otherwise. so, we end up stuck.

as we swing into these final months of 2024, try this: be gentle but honest about what you really LOVE in your space by starting here:

TIP ONE: schedule time. we all have clutter culprits – those spaces we want to go through, but never have enough time. clutter piles up one decision at a time, becoming a congregation of postponed emotions, so resistance is completely normal. want life to feel cooperative again? pick an area to tackle, schedule the time, show up and do it.

TIP TWO: take everything out and clean like God is coming. start anywhere – a drawer, your closet, or the attic – and take every single thing out. (note: ready yourself for MAJOR self-reflection.) wipe down the entire space and set some new intentions. this hands-on effort – cleaning shelves, vacuuming corners, or wiping down baseboards – wakes YOU and your house up!

TIP THREE: instead of thinking what to get rid of, decide what you’ll keep. ask yourself 3 questions:

do I LOVE it?

do we use it?

would I buy it again today?

edit your space for your how you want to edit your life – and I have a few ideas “HOW” over in my course! in fact, there’s an entire module dedicated to e’rrything we need to know about the clutter in our spaces. xo
