A Ripple of Pleasure…
What a delay in posts…apologies, everyone.
The family and I took a last minute jaunt to our old nook last week and returned to a jolly spring sun a day ago. As I try and catch up on all that was momentarily put on hold for our lovely vacation, I find myself with an infectious amount of "TO DO" lists…and so it seemed rather fitting to recap some of the highlights from a place I once called home…on, but what else, a list.
Salt Lake City brings to me a satisfying halt every time I visit. The grandeur of its mountains, the crisp air, and everything voluptuous in between…I LOVE that I know this city so well.
In no particular order (and time spent with friends and family excluded), here are a few highlights from the past 5 days that whirled right on by:
(1) One of the most delicious salads I've ever enjoyed was served to me over at Metropolitan restaurant: butter leaf lettuce + grilled butternut squash + pine nuts + gratuitous chunks of blue cheese + pomegranate vinaigrette = oh my. Oh my! I will be recreating that salad very soon. I suggest you do as well.
(2) A girlfriend and I hooked up and decided to spend a day over at The Kura Door spa. One of the treatments I indulged in was an ancient volcanic ritual — an exfoliating and detoxifying, never mind utterly blissful, 120 minute massage. Yes, it was more heavenly than it sounds. I will be doing that again…as soon as possible.
(3) Once upon a time, when I lived in this city, I had a little shopping circuit. A favorite and frequent stop was Hip and Humble. It still is. One never knows what she will come across…and absolutely need! Here are 3 purchases I couldn't live without:
A necklace with purportedly vintage buttons; either way, I LOVE my initials a little bit more now…
Hot pink salad serving utensils, especially on the brink of spring, seemed rather appropriate.
It may run counter to my usual tune, but this card left my sides split from laughing. So. Hard. And because I have a laughter deficit, I had no choice BUT to buy it. And giggle. Over and over again. I think I just might incorporate this line into my daily rhetoric…
Memories have a way of diffusing too quickly…and being replaced by the monotony of our daily tasks. Making a list of highlights, even the week's best moments, adds succulent punctuation to our lives. Before you turn the lights out on your next vacation…or even the day…find a way to capture your best moments…so that it is very hard for anything to come between you and unimpeachable happiness.
