Turn Your Funk Into Flow…

It happens. You slump into a funk. AND. YOU. JUST. CAN'T. SHAKE. IT. Maybe it is seasonal affective disorder. Maybe it is the aftermath of the holiday high. Sigh. Whatever this is, I find myself trying to shake it every single day lately. What's a body to do? Oh, I am so glad you asked.

When all else fails, it is time to forget you have neighbors and CRANK THE TUNES. Yes, turn the music up and shake your moneymaker! I keep a list of songs on my iPod just for the occasion…and I suggest you create your own custom playlist as well. Music has the ability to shift our funk to flow, any day or time. A song can literally change your vibration within a couple beats and make you come alive. And need I tell you the benefits of moving? I think Dr. Oz has me covered on this one.

This works well alone as well as with your friends and family…it will cultivate delight, happiness, and well-being. Now, as one of my favorite funk-busting songs asks, "What You Waiting For?"

Here are a few of my staple grooves:

What You Waiting For? (Gwen Stefani)

Best of You (Foo Fighters)

Little Red Corvette (Prince, and seriously, ANYTHING of his GOES!)

Mama's Room (Under the Influence of Giants)

Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees)

Hit Me With Your Best Shot (Pat Benatar)

Play (J. Lo)

No Myth (Michael Penn)

Give It to Me and Get Into the Groove (Madonna)

I Turn My Camera On (Spoon)

Big Wheel (Tori Amos)

One Month Off (Bloc Party)
