a little shui for your health and wealth

I sat down for a podcast interview yesterday, and ahead of our conversation, the host sent over a few questions she planned to ask me:

+ how can Feng Shui support better sleep, gut health, brain health and women’s reproductive health?

+ how does our environment influence our energy, health and overall wellbeing?

+ what Feng Shui principles help cultivate abundance and support success in business and career?

+ how do health and wealth influence each other through the spaces where we live and work?

and.

like most shui conversations, we jumped off script within 5 minutes because the first question inspired a whole new ‘level’ of curiosity and Qs – which, by the way, is why The Simple Shui Course comes with lifetime access.

since we didn’t get to all the planned Qs, I am answering a handful of them here today:

no. 1: FOR BETTER SLEEP: look under your bed.

you know that our bedroom has one important job: restoration. we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed, which means you are sleeping directly above whatever is stored (or stashed) under yours.

ideally you would have nothing under your bed, but sometimes storage here is non-negotiable. so, keep it soft: bedding, linens, seasonal clothes.

no. 2: FOR YOUR OVERALL WELL BEING: fix what you’ve neglected.

we are so quick to give ourselves a hall pass on house chores, so this is the part where you finally…

break down the Amazon boxes.

clean out the refrigerator.

unclog the slow drain.

change the porch light.

hang the picture that’s been leaning against the wall for six months.

“it doesn’t bother me” does not equate to “it doesn’t affect me.”

every repair you postpone and that pile you negotiate add to your list of demands running in the background, which become the breeding ground for overwhelm.

it is also one reason a little daily shui feels so good. when your house requires less of you, you have more of yourself available for everything else!

no. 3: FOR CAREER + ABUNDANCE: claim your (work)space.

on my list of my common situations I see, this one hits in the top three: you tell me you want to grow your business, become more visible, make more money – and then you show me your work space, which is…

squeezed onto the corner of the kitchen table.

working from a closet.

moving around the house because there is no one ‘good’ landing space.

meanwhile…

everyone else’s belongings have a permanent home – the kids have the playroom, your guests have a gorgeous spot, those aspirational holiday parties hold claim to the dining room.

sometimes, yes, we’re in the season of making whatever space we can find work. and to be clear, you don’t need a beautiful home office for your career to flourish.

however…

you do need to consider this: if you want ‘more’ – expansion, visibility, the opportunity to make a mark on the world – you gotta ask yourself if you have made room for it to arrive, get settled, be part of your life.

it can start with a drawer, a shelf, a desk… some place that holds the energy so it can compound.

your environment alone won’t create your success for you, but it holds undeniable influence in reinforcing the version of you who is ready for it.

no. 4: FOR HEALTH + WEALTH: circulation, circulation, circulation.

our health gives us the resources to create, lead, make decisions and respond to opportunities. wealth gives us access to resources, support, and choices. both depend on circulation.

fresh air needs to move through the rooms.

groceries need to come in and expired food needs to go out.

the laundry needs to make its way from the basket to the washer and back into the closet.

bills need to be paid.

just like you are a whole person, so is your home. so, the question always comes back to this: is your home helping you make certain behaviors, habits and possibilities easier to access and flow? or are you living in a bottleneck, using way too much of your own energy to make things happen and still getting results that feel mostly MEH? xo
