house therapy | work, rest, play

one of the first teachings I learned in my first certification program: look for the balance of work, rest, and play.

at the time, I didn’t quite understand the power of this trinity, but along my way of learning more and consulting homes, it became a cornerstones in my house assessment.

so, if you’re wondering how to read your own space – without a blueprint – try this quick audit of your home:

+ where does work live in your space? is it confined to an office, or is it bleeding into your bedroom, the kitchen, or living room? is your phone the last thing you see at night and the first thing in the morning?

+ rest isn’t just the absence of work – it’s the ritual of rejuvenation. so, where do you recharge? and think beyond your bed… maybe you have a favorite reading chair, a bath ritual, or a pocket where you spend time alone.

+ play (in my experience) is often the most neglected in this trio, but joy is a critical part of our energetic blueprint. where does play exist in your home? do you have a hobby table? art supplies? a corner that sparks delight?

what I have learned and seen in my consultations is that energetic depletion isn’t always about what you’re doing – it’s how your space is supporting (or sabotaging) you.

if your rest zone is cluttered with business books…

if your workspace doubles as a landing zone for everything without a home…

if play is nowhere in sight…

it’s not just your space that’s out of sync – it’s likely your energy feels that, too.

be sure to give this week’s episode of House Therapy (wherever you get your favorite podcasts) a 🎧 listen – and then find ways to reflect each of these priorities so your energy can truly recharge.

and if you want more insights and a-has like this, my course – Become Your Own Feng Shui Consultant – is in summer school mode, which means I am teaching the modules LIVE every Thursday through July 24th (!!!). enroll here, and let’s change your space – and your energy – for good. xo
