how to make yourself at home away from home!
i am in Sedona as you’re reading this, spending a few days in its vortex with some of my favorite people!
no matter the destination, there are always a few *shui* things i do whenever i’m away from home, so if you have any summer or upcoming vacation plans, today’s newsletter is for Y O U!
TIP ONE: zhuzh up the room chi.
if you can, open the window(s) or patio / balcony doors (if your room has either) and air out the room.
can’t let fresh air in? travel with a cleansing spray. i LOVE this PEACE spray; i adore this *travel lightly* kit, too; and every time i am in Vancouver, i stock up on this smudge spray!
TIP TWO: play some music.
sound is an effective way to shift chi, so use those beats to disrupt and uproot any stagnant or lingering chi from the previous guests. if you travel regularly, consider investing in a white sound machine* so that any nighttime noises aren’t keeping you from getting your deep sleep!
TIP THREE: unplug anything you’re not using.
if i’m only in a space for a few nights, this isn’t high priority. however, if it’s more than a few days, i prefer to eliminate any unnecessary electrical pollution.
TIP FOUR: bring your daily rituals with you!
with a more demanding travel schedule this year, i’ve stepped up on this one – making sure that i have a few things in a GO bag, including my Probiotics, travel-sized (and can’t go without) skin products, my notebook and a few favorite pens.
TIP FIVE: ground yourself with a little Mama Nature!
if possible, i like to bring fresh flowers or fruit into the space – they are usually the easiest to pick up. and when that’s not possible, i *breathe chi into the room* – ensuring i get out and about for a little fresh air!
TIP SIX: get comfortable.
when our lovelies were little, they always had to bring their blankets – i am certain some of you can relate. as adults, we like our comfort, too, and mine is a long (and preferably chunky!) cardigan sweater. basically, my version of a wearable blanket! it is the ultimate away from home comfort, so find something similar for you – and then pack it first!
and now, i am heading back into the Sedona landscape – stay tuned for a simple shui travel guide to Sedona in a couple weeks! after asking the socials for recommendations, i am going to share what was suggested and what we did! xo
