making a BIG decision? let your home help!
when it comes to making a BIG or quick decision, your home (wherever that is for you!) can help. remember, your space is a metaphor for your life, so you can make deliberate decisions around you that will generate clarity, a sense of confidence, and overall positive energy. here are a few of my favorite starting points:
no. 1: one of the things I assess during any consult is any dark area(s) in the home (or office) – and note them according to the bagua map. why? consider what light eliminates: uncertainty, low energy, not being seen, not seeing everything clearly…
dark spots suggest a deficit in visibility, which tells me my client might not being seeing opportunities in that area of their life! so, add light and see what comes into view!
no. 2: lemon essential oil (as a spritzer or in a diffuser) curbs indecisiveness, but I also love any invigorating scent, like eucalyptus, peppermint, or orange ‘weighing’ in here.
no. 3: windows represent the “eyes” of a home, symbolic of our own ability to see things clearly.
so, when weather or dust coats them or they are obstructed, we aren’t “seeing” the whole picture. my suggestion: keep them and the space around them clean. this assures you have full transparency and access to new perspectives.
no. 4: do you have any unnecessary ‘blocks’ in your home – doors, drains, windows, cluttered surfaces, etc.?
depending on where these blocks ‘live’ (according to the bagua), you could be experiencing unnecessary hurdles or energetic blocks in that ‘area’ of your life. free up the energy flow, and it’ll help improve your own energy as well as aid that BIG decision-making process.
no. 5: I will forever be here nudging you toward fresh flowers – and here’s one (of a million) reason why: they trigger our creative juices. a Texas A&M study found that people “proved to be far more innovative and creative in an office-based environment surrounded by flowers and plants than those without, and people’s productivity, in the form of innovation and creative problem solving, improved.”
no. 6: where do you spend most of your time? look for clutter in those ‘hot spots’. be particularly mindful of anything you know you don’t want or need anymore. when we keep company with this kind of clutter, we are ‘steeping in’ its stagnant chi – which makes it hard to think clearly.
and if your desk is a mess, give it a quick refresh, too. even though we get familiar with our own brand ‘chaos’, a cluttered workspace – over time – drains our focus and reduces our ability to process information.
no. 7: when nothing ever changes (think about that clutter I just mentioned!), Yin chi coagulates – and too much Yin energy often leads to indecision.
if there is too much going in our homes, it perpetuates an excess of Yang chi – and this typically ‘inspires’ hasty decisions.
no. 8: use (or wear) color intentionally! earthy colors (browns, beiges, and soft yellows) ground our energy, which can lead to more stable and thoughtful decisions. watery colors (black, blue, and those “inky” hues) wake up our deeper instincts and enhance our intuition.
no. 9: activate the bagua with a little TLC (tender lovin’ chi!) in these 3 life areas:
Helpful People is the epicenter for mentors, guidance and support from wise sources.
Self-Cultivation and Knowledge governs our inner wisdom, intellect, and personal growth, which are all often all involved when making a BIG decision.
Career and Life Journey – the gua home to Water – relates to our goals and ambitions, so attention here enhances our ability to go with the flow. xo
