simple shui | a PERFECT new year ritual!

you’ve heard me say it before: SO much of Feng Shui’s magic comes from the PRACTICE of its rituals. when we ENGAGE its deeper symbolism, we’re tapping into a powerful, living WISDOM that is thousands of years old. take that in fully: high vibe energy accumulating over thousands of years, and YOU dip into that well when you ALIGN with the PRINCIPLES and PRACTICES of Feng Shui.

one word: WHOA!

so, with that in mind, let’s talk about the number ’27.’ if you grabbed my book (thank you!), you’ll see many of the prompts incorporate the number ’27.’

why?

it starts with understanding the symbolism of ‘3’ and ‘9.’ ‘3’ is a number used culturally in spiritual terms. think: mind, body, soul; heaven, man, earth; or the father, son, and the holy spirit. ‘9’ is the most yang (single) number – and it is associated with power, completion, and manifestation. and when you times 9 by 3, magic ensues.

(tuck this away because as you venture the shui path, you will be met often by 3s, 9s, and 27s!)

we’re only a week into the new year, and i won’t speak for you, but i am feeling the overwhelm of what’s happening globally. so, while shui isn’t here to replace ACTIONS we must take, we can incorporate this ritual – and its magic! – into the next few weeks to help LIFT THE HEAVY on the world right now.

are you up for it?

good.

here’s what you do:

for the next 27 days (you’ll be done February 3rd, if you begin today), do 10 ACTS OF KINDNESS every day. kindness is SIMPLE, so don’t overthink this.

hold the door for someone.
let a person with only a few items in their basket ahead of you in the grocery line.
ask someone how their day is and LISTEN to the answer.
shovel the neighbor’s sidewalk.

donate to the fire funds in Australia. check out here and here.
smile as you pass others.
reach out to a friend you’ve been meaning to call.
buy some flowers and hand them to a struggling mom or an elderly person in the parking lot – trust me, they will BEAM for days.

leave a pot of flowers or a plate of cookies on a neighbor’s doorstep.
tell someone how much you appreciate them.
give a stranger a compliment, or share with someone a compliment you overheard about them.
do a loved one’s chore WITHOUT TELLING THEM.

write a LOVE note and leave it on the side of a friend or hostess’s refrigerator when you’re at their home.
leave your guilty pleasure magazines on the airplane in the back seat pocket in front of you.
spend the day refusing to say anything negative about YOURSELF.

pay for someone’s pedicure as you pay for yours.
slow down to let a few cars merge onto the highway.
say YES when you’re asked to donate to a cause at the cash register.

leave a kind review for a local business, a customer service agent, or an author (wink wink!).
and if you’re really hesitant to give something, challenge yourself to give exactly that!

once you start, you will see PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES to be kind.

are there any rules? only one: if you miss a day, start over. rituals require consistency and deliberate intention, so 27 days in a row is a MUST.

can you repeat your acts of kindness? yes, but don’t rely solely on the same one for all 10 acts of kindness or repeat the same 10 every day. stay in the ritual by actively looking for opportunities to be a source of light, LOVE, and kindness in someone’s day.

with any ritual that involves helping others, we also IMPROVE OUR OWN LUCK – which makes this incredibly powerful when we want to U-turn out of  a streak of bad luck. i am starting tomorrow, so let me know if you are, too. and we will keep each other posted on what happens, okay? xo
