simple shui | getting unstuck
it happens often. i come across a magazine headline or the wisp of a conversation. . .
and i instinctually want to weave it into shui.
so, when a mag recently landed in my mailbox with the phrase getting unstuck on its cover, i was inspired.
partly because getting unstuck has been somewhat of a battle cry here. . .
and because i had a curated list of things to do around our home to awaken that fragrant smell of hope.
if you find yourself stuck — emotionally, physically, financially, mentally, spiritually, energetically — this post is for you.
1. CLUTTER
you know to clear it. and, yet, this always bears repeating.
when we create open + free space with intention, we invite something better into its space.
i usually dive into spaces that hold things — closets and drawers, my purse, and the garage.
2. MEANINGFUL CLUTTER
this stuff isn’t trash, but maybe a memento from yesteryear. so, here’s the rule to follow: if it brings up feelings of wistfulness, neglected goals, unlikable people. . . or you are holding onto it purely out of obligation, part ways. please.
because whatever feeling you have seeing that memento is an energy deposit in your house and your life.
3. FLOORS
they represent our emotions so it really helps to not weigh them down with unnecessary (unused, unloved, or forgotten) stuff.
4. CARPET
when was the last time it was deep cleaned? total confession: i’ve only cleaned ours a handful of times (GAH!). ever.
however, due to recent bumps around here, i was encouraged to schedule a cleaning to remove all the stagnant debris + dirt just sitting there.
think of it like hitting the refresh button for your house.
5. WINDOWS
you know they represent our ability to see things clearly. and if weather and grime coat them, we are unable to see the whole picture.
but did you know whatever is being concealed or hidden often comes to light within days of windows being cleaned?
6. FURNITURE
move it around. not possible? change out bedding, couch pillows, anything framed. a subtle shift in your environment requires a mental shift, too. and no matter how small it is, when we observe a new way to navigate or see a room, we are actually changing our own course. even a sliver of change can make a full-tilt difference.
7. HELPFUL PEOPLE
think of a tic-tac-toe board imposed over your floor space. the front right-hand corner of your home is known as its helpful people + travel area.
helpful people is literal — mentors, clients + customers, colleagues, anyone who can offer help. we shui this area when we seek the right people showing up at the right time in our lives.
it is also home to the unseen energy available in our lives, like spirit guides, spiritual belief systems, guardian angels, and all that nutritious divine love swirling around us.
i personally organize, purge, and sweep this area {which happens to be our garage} with a specific intention whenever i need “back up” help.
8. PHOTOS
happy family photos adorn our home. but sometimes it feels like there are too many, and the “noise” drowns out my instincts and intuition.
if this is you, contemplate taking the photos down for a couple days and let the space breathe.
anything at eye level represents current time — this means whatever is happening in your life right now.
ask yourself what those pictures might be saying. and before you return any to its designated spot, find the ones you really LOVE and put them back with that renewed intention.
if the photos are from way, way back — and i am totally guilty of having scrumptious black and whites of pint-sized lovelies — update them. we get stuck in the past when that is what we constantly see.
9. STUFF THAT IS STUCK
finally, anything that gets stuck in your space often signals the same in life. so, look for pesky drawers or doors, buttons or zippers. . .and fix them.
i find time and time again whenever i use shui with the intention of empowerment, energy galvanizes around me and resumes flowing into everything i do. so, give a few of these a try next time you are in a rut because it will build a bridge right back to your rhythm and groove.
