the front door that changed everything

a woman recently visited Saint Ritual with a lot of questions about shui, particularly around wealth. she’d grown up around tarot, psychics, and mediums, so energetic concepts weren’t ‘woo’ to her, but Feng Shui was new territory.

as her questions kept circling back to money and opportunity, I asked her the same Q I always come back to: what are you actually trying to change?

she told me she hadn’t held a full-time job in a couple of years, and the stress was weighing on her.

so, I asked about her front door.

“we never use it,” she said. like many people and homes, they use another entrance entirely.

in shui, the front door is called the mouth of chi because it’s where energy, opportunity, and abundance find their way into your home. and if it’s ‘sealed off’, so is that potential flow.

my advice to her was simple: start using your front door. open it wide every day, if possible. even if you walk in one door, loop around, and exit through the front just to come back… just use it. give opportunity a way in.

she asked a few more questions about red envelopes, coins, and oranges, and then went on her way.

a few weeks later, she popped back in – and might I add, she was beaming! She’d just landed a full-time position after the long drought. and you know what she told me?

she opens that front door wide every single day now, consciously welcoming the energy in.

to quote her: “does I ‘know for certain’ that’s what turned things around? no, but I’m not stopping.”

here’s what I want you to take from this: Feng Shui can get complicated, especially when people find themselves in a desperate moment because they so often reach for the complex cures. but sometimes the most potent shift is also the most obvious one.

we tend to trust what we don’t understand over what’s right in front of us.

is opening your front door a guaranteed fix? no – remember, context and nuance matter, and every home and situation is different. but for her, that front door was the thing that mattered most. xo
