why clutter isn’t the problem…
you don’t have to become a minimalist to live with less clutter. (hello, I’m Amanda, and I am a maximalist to the max!)
however, you do have to start paying attention to the choices you’re making before something ends up in a drawer, on your desk, or underfoot because what I know for sure is…
if your space feels off or overwhelming, it’s rarely just “the stuff.” it’s the energetic weight of all the decisions you haven’t made yet.
today, I’m sharing 5 simple shui strategies that will shift the energy in your home and in your body – because it’s all connected. even better? these are all pulled straight from Module Three of Become Your Own Feng Shui Consultant – the module people tell me (all the time!) gives them their first real breath of fresh air.

STRATEGY ONE: ask questions before you buy
next time you’re tempted to bring something home, ask yourself: does this serve an immediate purpose or is it just empty calories? will I use this consistently? am I willing to let something else go to make space for it? if the answer is no… let it be a no.
STRATEGY TWO: make the floors and counters ‘protected’ space
one of the quickest ways to revive the energy in your home? stop using your floors and counters as ‘layover’ storage – as in, “I will eventually put this away, but I’ll put it ‘here’ for now.”
when these surfaces are clear, they become energetic amplifiers – sending out signals that you’re calm, cool, and collected. clutter, on the other hand, broadcasts the opposite.
STRATEGY THREE: use the rule of 5
every time you leave a room, put 5 things away.that’s it! that’s the ‘rule’ – and it’s wildly simple and effective. over time, it adds up to about an hour a day of tidying without feeling like work.
STRATEGY FOUR: declutter by category, not room
pick one category (shoes, books, mugs) and tackle it across the entire house.when we work with the full scope of our consumption, it becomes easier to make choices that still feel good later.
STRATEGY FIVE: shop with a wish list, not a whim
keep a running list of things you truly want or need, and then…
wait 30 days.
if it’s still a yes, go for it.
this way, you’re decluttering before the clutter ever arrives – and that’s the real flex here.
and on that note…
if this has you feeling ready to slay some clutter over weekend, these strategies are just the beginning.in my summer school live series – now available inside Become Your Own Feng Shui Consultant – I’m walking students through practical, elevated routines that fertilize this kind of confidence, creativity, and success, room by room.
