your home is bored

most people assume Feng Shui is about *fixing problems*: their clutter, some weird floor plan, or a guest room that’s become part storage unit.

yes, we do need to address those things, and…

some of my FAVORITE shui adjustments have absolutely nothing to do with problems. they’re about delight and giving your home something to play with because sometimes your home is asking for a little razzle dazzle.

so, if you’re looking for some *high fives guaranteed* shui, I have (more than) a few ideas:

no. 1: give your eyes something to fall in love with

one of my favorite wealth adjustments I ever shared with a client (way back in 2010) was to paint her office a ‘luxury’ color, like Hermès orange, Harrods green, or Tiffany blue.

(she went with Tiffany blue, and it did not disappoint!)

there’s something very “I’m so worth it and kind of a BIG deal” that’ll infuse you every single time you walk into a space that sparks your JOY!

no. 2: let the sunshine wear jewelry

hang a crystal where the sun can find it: a kitchen window, a hallway, or from a light fixture. when the light hits it and tiny rainbows start dancing across the walls, it’s like the entire room remembered how to flirt.

bonus points if it’s hanging in a room that’s been forgotten or neglected lately – a guest room, formal dining room, or that corner you only tend when vacuuming.

no. 3: create a soundtrack for summer

pretend your life is a movie for ten minutes. what’s playing in the background: Sade? Fleetwood Mac? Crowded House? Portishead? Talking Heads?

what you listen to becomes part of what your home feels like, so don’t sleep on ‘soundtrack’ chi!

and while you’re at it, hang a bell by the front door. every time it rings, treat it as if your home is saying, “something wonderful just arrived!”

no. 4: buy the flowers

you know why…

not because company is coming…or because it’s a holiday….and not because you finally ‘have a reason’ to splurge.

you buy them because good things belong right here, right now. better yet, order a weekly floral delivery from a local florist. make your entryway feel like a boutique hotel lobby. your mouth of chi deserves a proper welcome committee!

no. 5: add something that moves

when people ask me for wealth tips, one of the first things I mention is movement. so, take one of those standing-still spots in your home and add a little whimsy:

a bell

a fountain

a wind chime

curtains that catch a breeze

a bird feeder outside a window

or my personal favorite… drape twinkle lights around a bookshelf, headboard or indoor tree! it’s giving Paris fashion week afterparty meets bedtime story.

okay, that’s the weekend assignment, babes! do one small thing that makes your home feel more alive.

and listen, as someone who has been invited into many, many homes, the ones that I remember best aren’t the most stylish or most expensive…

they’re the homes where dreams and stories feel like the true north, and they have left little clues everywhere that they’re still in love with their lives. xo
