I went horseback riding by the light of the moon Saturday night. As we were out in the unseasonably warm weather and fall-like breeze, I was amazed by the silhouettes around me. Trees, cranes, and horses were basking in the light of the fullest moon. And I was reminded of how easily I am inspired by nature's colors.

When I choose a dark shade for a room, I know I need to offset it with light. And because I am so confident in the power of whites and neutrals to soften bold walls, I paint away with any color that strikes my fancy…
