simple shui | a client story

let’s face it.

consumption has a foothold in our homes, and most days, it is winning.

clutter is a highly recognizable hallmark of how unhappiness expresses itself. and that clinging clutter is what keeps us ambivalent – on a treadmill going NOWHERE – in our lives.

the more unnecessary things we have in our lives, the more unnecessary strife we carry. and until we prioritize our space, we cannot prioritize ourselves {our goals, our dreams, our intentions}.

clutter can be simple to understand.

and any effort we devote to a clutter raid will deliver powerfully positive feedback.

but that’s as far as my loving shove will push you.

because i can’t want it more than you.

so, you’ll understand why i’ve been savoring this email i received a few months ago. . .

this year, i finally made it a priority to clean out the closets, rooms, pantry, every nook, cranny and everything in my house. i wanted to get rid of the clutter. i wanted to focus on the items that i loved. i want to let go of those things i felt i had to keep, because i received them as a gift or they were still fine (but didn’t fit great or make me happy when i wore them). your new year’s article where you discussed removing or moving 27 things from your house was the catalyst. it sounded so simple and manageable.  i finally got my family on board and told each one of them to donate, toss or sell 27 things they owned.  they harped on the number and i just referred to my expert, Amanda. she’s the expert and she said so…so do it. to my surprise, it worked! we started that after returning from two great trips over the holidays, where i was validated in my belief that time and experiences together are so much more important than STUFF.

since the first weekend of january, we have donated at least one box a week to charity (usually 3 or 4). we have also sold or tossed many things as well. 27 things turned into 54, then 81, 108 , 270 and it continues every day.  it has lightened the house, my spirit and the general feeling of our house. the energy is so much better and i feel like i have lost 10 lbs. so, thank you! thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world. we are listening. we hear you and we appreciate you!

i’ve read that note at least a hundred times, so thank YOU. because it is the perfect reminder of WHY i hold space for this topic, and why i hustle shui with all my heart.
