your daily rituals are your best shui

you know how investors are always saying, “look at where you already spend your money… and invest there”?

I feel about shui the same way.

instead of trying to overhaul your entire home or “get it right,” a much more powerful place to begin starts with your answer to this question:

what are the rituals already stitched into your day?

they’re where your energy is already moving; where your attention already goes; and where your home is already in conversation with you.

so, rather than adding more… we simply layer intention onto what’s already happening.

here’s a peek at a few of mine:

no. 1: brewing the morning coffee

the very first thing I do each day is make coffee.

and besides the ritual itself, there’s a lot happening here energetically…

I’m in the kitchen (our wealth + nourishment hub).

there’s water moving (and moving water symbolizes the flow of favor and fortune).

and before the world starts asking anything of me, I’m choosing myself first.

this one small ritual becomes a daily deposit that compounds over time.

no. 2: making the bed

there’s a principle I preach again and again: the closer you are to something, the more influence it has.

we spend hours in our bed – resting, restoring, and being at our most open and receptive. so, making the bed is a way of saying, “I’ve got you” to myself at the end of the day.

I’m creating a space that’s ready to hold me well. and as someone who has done this religiously, I am here to tell you that those small acts of self-hospitality? they mean something when life tailspins.

no. 3: sweeping

I feel SO satiated after a good sweep.

what started as a weekly front porch habit has turned into a daily rhythm on our backyard patio (thank you, puppy life).

it has always been more than just tidying up. for me, there is a grounding rhythm to it.

it’s also a reliable *reset my intentions* ritual, giving me the cadence to reconnect with what I’m creating or tending to at the moment.

and worthy of noting, the back of our home is connected to our wealth, visibility, and relationships guas, so tending to this space with a little sweat equity feels like a fair exchange for that support.

no. 4: talking to myself in the mirror

I’ve talked about mirrors before, but this is a practice I’ve been leaning into lately:

imagine a version of you who has already lived this life. they’ve moved the mountains and seen it all.

now… what would your oldest, wisest self say to you? what would they tell you about your worries, your doubts, your hesitation, whatever is on your plate?

write those answers down (on a 3×5 card or a PostIt), tape / place them on your mirror, and read them back to yourself every single day. mirrors reflect whatever we give them, and if they’re always “on,” activating and amplifying energy…

why not make sure it’s something that actually supports you?

no. 5: putting the house to bed

at the end of the day, I do a simple walk through our house and…

tidy the dog toys.
turn off the lights.
close the curtains.
return things to where they belong.

this has never been an elaborate ritual. I am simply *zhuzhing* our home to ‘greet’ us in the morning. yet, this one ritual does something subtly powerful: it moves me through my home.

and since we are one of the strongest influences of energy in our space…our chi circulation matters, especially when it’s paired with care.

so, if you’re feeling out of touch with the lists you’ve saved and the shui tips on your TO DO list…

take inspiration from your own life.

look at what you’re already doing, and let that be where you plant your shui seeds.

because when your home begins to support the life you’re already living, everything aligns more intentionally…and it feels SO much more like YOU!  xo
