my mid-year check in…
here we are – the middle of 2025 (welp!), and it’s time for a personal and professional check-in on what’s worked, what hasn’t, and where I am pivoting next.
right from the start, this year has surprised me in ways I never saw coming, and not all of them have been wrapped in gold foil and celebration.
in January, I created my own version of the ‘Hard 75’ – and it included things like:
· showing up at the gym 3–4x a week
· resuming my daily walks
· drinking more water
· cutting out alcohol
· reading every day (I’m at 31 books so far this year…)
· rekindling my gratitude rituals
· giving up my daily intake news (I have a lot to say about this one, but it requires its own note.)
and for the most part, I’ve done it. I begin most mornings now with lemon water and strength training. walks are a regular part of my week again. I drink water most of the day (coffee still makes the first move), and I’ve pretty much cut out most alcohol – by the way, not for any grand reason other than perimenopause and my body having less tolerance for it. (sigh.)
which brings me to perhaps my biggest win this year so far – finally finding the right doctors that ‘get’ what I’m navigating and help me feel informed and supported and more like myself.

now… for the not-so-hot parts…
I made some BIG investments in my business this spring, and a few of those moves totally flopped. some were mis-hires. some were just straight-up learning curves. some didn’t return anything close to what I put in.
it is in the reflection you are faced with a choice: keep licking the wounds or lean harder into growth – which is why I said YES when I was invited to join a room full of brilliant minds with much bigger bank accounts. this community of entrepreneurs and coaches are so much further along than me, and if I am completely honest: I’m easily the least experienced in that space. it’s uncomfortable and it’s humbling, but it’s exactly the room I want to be in.
and then…there is the most unexpected surprise: an idea pitched to me in the spring for 2026 came roaring into the present: I’m opening a store.
this idea has been a long time coming – a space that offers a tangible, shoppable, energetic extension of everything I believe in. so, here I am announcing Saint Ritual will open its doors (fingers crossed) this September, and it will carry a curated coterie of the small businesses I LOVE. so, if you fancy, follow @saintritualstore for behind-the-scenes updates and details.
which now brings me to what’s ahead for the second half of 2025:
· I’ll be teaching the final live round of House Therapy this fall. with everything in motion, this is last cohort where I’ll be in the Zoom room, teaching every single class myself.
· I’ll be opening Saint Ritual.
· I’m debuting a whole new way of showing up online, starting in September. it is time for the next era of Simple Shui.
all that said, if 2025 has taught me anything (so far), it’s this:
there’s never a roadmap for what’s next or any guarantee it all “works.” likewise, there is no way to predict what exactly I’ll get out of it.
but here’s what I also know for sure:
entrepreneurship is often about taking long stretches of leaping without proof.
I’ve certainly questioned myself more times this year than I can count while simultaneously making bolder moves than I ever have before. I think that’s the tenacity of scaling and the truth behind reinvention. it’s the power of not leaving anything on the table. and whether I fail or flourish, I want to do it fully. no regrets. no holding back.
so, if you’re here with me – watching, reading, rooting, lurking – thank you. I’m ready to see what the second half of 2025 has in store because methinks it’s just getting good. xo
