simple shui | 9 rituals i swear by!

here’s what i like about shui rituals: they foster an intimacy with my surroundings; they strengthen my relationship with positive energy; and when i observe ritual as requirement, it encourages me to entertain what’s possible by expanding my awareness. for me, there is something undeniable about being in the rhythm of ritual that amplifies magic and miracles in my world – and who doesn’t LOVE a guaranteed ROI for the effort? so, if you’ve ever wondered what rituals i swear and live by, meet my tried + trusted + turned inside-out, loved up on like the velveteen rabbit, soul support council:

  1. sweep. this is the simplest ritual i employ for breaking up + dispersing unwanted/tired energy – especially around entry doors. not a week goes by without a good sweep. my motto: when you don’t know what else to do (shui-wise), grab a broom! [RX: once a week.]

  1. dust. as my energy medicine teacher says, “dust is the accumulation of death.” exactly. and while these first two rituals sound more like housekeeping than shui-making, cleansing + clearing are mandatory steps for calling energy to us. when we want to heal, restore, transform, or commune with energy, our cleaning efforts ensure that the summoned “fuel” isn’t depleted by energetic chaos. (remember to check those commonly overlooked areas: plants, tops of frames + artwork + doorways + shelves + books; corners of rooms; windowsills. . .) [RX: as needed.]

  1. say it with me: a stick of Palo Santo a day keeps good energy in play. this “holy wood” cleanses negativity away, provides energetic protection, and lifts the vibrations around us. palo santo also happens to woo good fortune. and it floats enough yang energy to combat germs + (low-vibe) gremlins alike. in other words, let the good vibes commence. [RX: every morning.]

  1. trickle fresh flowers or fruit through the house. the higher the vibrational quality around us, the better we roll with life. and anything freshy fresh has the most robust and immediate effects for turning blahs into BOO -YAHS! [RX: fresh flower runs on Friday + fresh fruit weekly.]

  1. start a bird seed bar. we keep a chirp house in the wealth corner of our backyard, and every single time we put more seed out, the tweeting party begins! birds are a powerful symbol of opportunities, so keeping their company attracts financial opportunities, good news + good business, and career luck. keep them coming back, and lady luck will practically move in with you! [RX: as needed.]

  1. learn this magic trick. the only thing in our house i want filled to the brim is my coffee cup. (okay, maybe a few other things, too. . .) however, plenty o’ pockets of open, breathing space signals there is always room to welcome something lovely + new into our world. and it gives the eye + spirit somewhere to rest – ahhhh, open space, take me away! so, there are affirmations, manifestation practices…and the equally compelling power of open space. [RX: monthly.]

  1. bring out the silver. we use a silver box to claim/hold/attract our intentions – like a manifestation or “God” box. anytime i want to invite spirit’s help and then walk away (without the WHAT IFS), i write down a statement of gratitude (as if this has already sprung to life) in red ink (red is the most YANG color, so it commands energy + demands action), place it in the box, and then let the cosmos organize accordingly. [RX: new requests added as needed; old requests cleared monthly.]

  1. clear clutter. Mel Robbins says procrastination is a coping mechanism for stress, and our brains tend to focus on what is left unfinished rather than what we’ve completed. sounds like limbo hell, if you ask me. so, if even a smidge of my stress stems from STUFF, it’s time to put aside feeble excuses and just clear it! [RX: monthly.]

  1. let color be your PR agent. i recently read a strategy for weening off social media: change the settings so your apps open without color. and it makes SO MUCH SENSE! color is energizing + motivating + addictive – without it, the power of persuasion weakens. so, imagine what could happen to your life if you incorporated a poppy palette in your surroundings! right now, pink is the zinger everywhere here, and it feels refreshing but unexpected, bold and punchy, and vibrantly awake! [RX: weekly via flowers + fruit. daily via a bright lip color!] xo
