What's in Your Vision?

If you had a pulse during The Secret rage a couple summers ago, then you are probably familiar with a "vision" board. Sounds crafty, right? Try to think of it as a gentle but visual reminder of what we desire and intend to achieve in this one glorious life of ours.

I use boards all the time. When I am working over a room or brainstorming ideas, I buy poster boards in surplus. I keep scissors around my house and glue sticks hidden. And Sharpie markers…well, I could never have enough. I am always, always cutting or tearing out ideas, quotes, and pictures…basically any source of inspiration. The only requirement is that what I see makes me feel good.

A vision board is visual brainstorming of your life. When we travel somewhere unknown, it is best to have a map, right? And it doesn't hurt to have a few landmarks along the way assuring us we are headed the right direction. Vision boards allow you to begin this journey with an idea of where you want to be…while figuring out who you are with, what you enjoy along the way, and why these things are important.

I started several boards when I moved into my home a couple years ago, and today, I threw most of them out. I had accomplished what I desired. So now I begin anew…

Don't try and fill your board in one sitting. Instead, put a few things up and let the ideas simmer. Hang your board where you can see it daily. When you find something that resonates throughout your entire body, add it to the board. Think of your life as a masterpiece…and then treat your board exactly the same way.
